I am a researcher working on adapting to climate change.
I work across research, policy and practice on adapting to climate change. My interest is in ensuring these processes support effective and equitable adaptation, and that adaptation is at the scale and ambition we need for the escalating impacts of climate change. I am an invited working group member of the World Adaptation Science Programme, a member of the UCL Executive Group of the Climate Crisis Grand Challenge and on the Advisory Group of the Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance. In 2022-23 I was on the Advisory Board of the UKRI Future Leader Fellow's Development Network.
I write about adaptation in peer-reviewed journal articles , books, reports and briefings for policymakers, and for the media.
I work with research organisations, governments, climate funds, innovation agencies and philanthropies to conduct new research and analysis to inform action and programming. I also facilitate and support strategy processes, organisational learning, developing theories of change and evaluation.
I am currently a Principal Research Fellow and proleptic Associate Professor at University College London and hold a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship. As part of the Fellowship I am leading a research programme and international consortium around adaptation measurement.
Previously, I was a Lecturer at UCL and led research at Europe’s climate innovation agency where I developed a cross-cutting research and thought leadership portfolio exploring the role of innovation and policy experimentation in addressing climate change. I have been a Team Leader and Senior Researcher in the Climate Change Group at IIED working with local research partners, civil society and governments. I have also worked at the Grantham Institute on Climate Change at the LSE and the UN African Climate Policy Centre. I hold a PhD from the geography department at the University of Cambridge.
